Gibeon has landed

Gibeon

The beauty and mystery of what lies beyond the stars has fascinated humanity since the dawn of time. This particular curiosity has been behind some of the greatest advancements in technology and science, as well as inspiring countless works of art in many different forms. Amongst them, the Shooting Stars collection by Xerjoff.

  • In late January 2026, Shooting Stars gained a new perfume with the release of Gibeon, a mesmerising, musky-floral scent that follows the same theme of celestial inspiration as the rest of the collection.

The idea for the collection was born from a visit to the Natural History Museum in London, where Xerjoff founder Sergio Momo first learned of one of the most dramatic astronomical events in recorded history.

  • The Sikhote-Alin meteorite fell to earth in Eastern Siberia in 1947, crashing with incredible force and leaving behind an enormous crater filled with iron fragments, remnants of something that was created at the same time as the solar system.

In awe of the phenomenon and intrigued by the thought of holding a piece of the stars, Sergio Momo set about creating the Shooting Stars collection, with many of the perfumes named after meteorites.

  • Gibeon
  • The story of the Gibeon meteorite is one of distant origins, cosmic intrigue and hidden beauty. It travelled through space for roughly 4.5 billion years, weightless and silent, before landing in the Kalahari desert. Its arrival on earth predates written history, but its impact continues to be felt long afterwards.

  • Western scientists first documented the meteorite in 1836, but by that point, the local Nama people had been crafting spearheads and tools from it for centuries, perhaps even millenia. They appreciated it for its strength and utility, while in the western world it would become sought after for its rare aesthetic.

  • When cut open or polished, the meteorite reveals a Widmanstätten pattern. This striking, intricate pattern of crystals was formed as the meteorite cooled extremely slowly while travelling through space. The conditions necessary for its formation do not exist on earth, meaning it cannot be reproduced, and is only found in extraterrestrial materials.

Note Gibeon

Like its cosmic namesake, Gibeon by Xerjoff inspires a sense of wonder, soothing the soul with its impossibly soft scent. It is a perfume that floats softly, caressing the skin and the senses with its featherlike touch.

A gentle opening of neroli and cinnamon is veiled in a blanket of Tuscan orris, whose powdery embrace creates an endearing sense of comfort. At its base, smooth, creamy vanilla is warmed by cedar and dreamlike musky nuances. An otherworldly scent that makes you feel right at home.

Event Gibeon

For the official launch event of Gibeon, the stellar choice of venue was perfectly aligned with the perfume itself. The stunning Observatori Fabra in Barcelona is one of the oldest astronomical observatories still active today, and the study of asteroids and comets is its main function. With its ethereal charm, Gibeon recalls the sensation felt when witnessing them.

At the launch, guests experienced that feeling firsthand by stargazing through the observatory’s powerful telescope and smelling the perfume for the first time. An already illuminating evening was enriched further by a talk from noted astronomer Joan Anton Català, followed by a themed dinner and handpainted souvenir perfume sets to ensure the special night won’t be forgotten.

Gibeon opens with the soft powderiness of neroli, a quality amplified by the heart note of Tuscan orris that defines the composition with its luxurious, velvety caress. Gibeon’s enduring smoothness comes from its Madagascan vanilla and tonka bean pairing, with clean musk and the warm, balsamic nuances of cedarwood completing a dreamlike base.

Within the ornate coffret of every Shooting Stars collection perfume lies a very special gift: a certified meteorite fragment, born billions of years ago at the same time as the solar system. A genuine piece of the cosmos, yours to keep forever.
