The story of Xerjoff

Story

Xerjoff is a luxury perfume house that transcends the traditional boundaries of perfumery. With a deep reverence for craftsmanship and genuine quality, Xerjoff marries the finest natural ingredients with opulent design to create unique sensory experiences. Each creation goes beyond the realm of perfumery — it is an artistic journey, where scent, beauty and emotion converge.

Story

United by a desire to elevate the craft of perfumery, Sergio Momo and Dominique Salvo formally founded Xerjoff in their hometown of Turin, Italy, in 2007. Xerjoff truly began years earlier, however, when Sergio Momo manifested his artistic vision of producing a work of art within a work of art.

His first creation was a rich, opulent scent enclosed in a quartz flacon, sculpted and polished by hand. During a visit to Moscow, a curious client was extremely taken by the perfume’s beauty, and commissioned the creation of several more. With that, the story of Xerjoff was set in motion.

The first Xerjoff collection, 17/17 Stone Label, arrived in 2007, followed by Shooting Stars in 2009. With their semi-precious stone embellishments, meteorite fragments, and gold-plated caps, these collections demonstrated the artistic and luxurious sensibilities that define Xerjoff, and set a new standard in luxury niche perfumery.

The Egyptian Museum in Turin was the source of inspiration for Xerjoff’s signature perfume cap.
Story
Designed by Dominique Salvo, it is based on the Deshret — or Egyptian Red Crown — worn by pharaohs and mythological deities.
Story
The Deshret-inspired cap has been a hallmark of Xerjoff since day one, but its size has evolved over the years.
Story
Earlier perfumes had an elongated form of the cap, before the shorter, modern-day version was adopted.

In 2009, Sergio Momo expanded Xerjoff’s legacy by reviving Casamorati, a historic Italian perfume house originally established in Bologna in 1888. Preserving the essence of 19th-century Italian perfumery and maintaining the original flacon design, Casamorati was reborn under Xerjoff as a bridge between timeless elegance and modern luxury, and an ode to the Art Nouveau era.

2010 saw the opening of the first monobrand boutique, located in the illustrious Dubai Mall. Many more followed in the subsequent years, including the arrival of both Xerjoff and Casamorati boutiques within the famed walls of Harrods in London.

  • As the range of perfumes grew and recognition of the house continued to spread worldwide, Xerjoff distinguished itself further with the introduction of its signature flacon in 2016 — a design that pursues Xerjoff's multisensory appeal.

Its curves and ridges make it pleasing to hold in the hand, and its thick base transmits a sense of solidity and quality. The choice of transparent glass allows the beholder to observe the colour and movement of the perfume within, while artistic textures and original designs inspire and innovate.

  • Today, Xerjoff has a repertoire exceeding 180 original scents, available in more than 125 countries worldwide, with 13 boutiques spread out across the globe. An established pioneer in the world of perfumery, Xerjoff continues to innovate, taking the art form to new frontiers and creating new sensations.
